I-CAP

Mission

The iCAP Practical Guidance Collection project aims to foster innovation mindsets among young learners by offering practical guidance, inspiration, and real-world examples to secondary schools across Europe. This initiative focuses on helping teachers and students embrace innovation-fostering teaching methods, especially in subjects related to entrepreneurship and science. By providing both virtual and downloadable resources, the project empowers educators to integrate hands-on, real-life experimentation into their curricula and actively engage students in co-creation and community collaboration.

Challenge

Despite growing recognition of the importance of innovation, secondary schools often struggle to bridge the gap between educational research and classroom practice. The challenge faced by the iCAP project is to shift schools from traditional methods to more dynamic, innovation-driven approaches that equip students with the skills and mindset needed for the future. Teachers lack practical resources to make this shift, and students are not exposed to the real-world experiences that foster creativity, critical thinking, and entrepreneurial skills.

Methodology

The iCAP project uses a blended methodology that combines didactic guidance, open schooling principles, and the practical experiences of secondary schools across five countries. Through a range of mixed-media materials—including videos, real-life examples, and testimonials—the project offers teachers inspiration and concrete steps to create innovation-driven learning environments. Special emphasis is placed on student co-creation, community partnerships, and the critical role of teachers in guiding students through these innovation experiments.

Outcomes

The iCAP Practical Guidance Collection will produce a comprehensive resource for schools, featuring downloadable PDFs, videos, and visual guides on topics such as open schooling, fostering innovation, and teacher roles in supporting student experimentation. The project will demonstrate how secondary schools can integrate innovation into their curricula, assess the impact on students, and design effective innovation-fostering activities. Through these resources, the iCAP project will contribute to bridging the implementation gap in education by inspiring teachers to experiment and create real change in their classrooms. Funded by the Erasmus+ program, this initiative will ultimately help shape the next generation of innovative thinkers across Europe.
